One of the first recurring sketches on SCTV, the SCTV News featured Floyd Robertson (Joe Flaherty), the competant hard news anchor, and Earl Cambembert (Eugene Levy), the earnest but never on-target newsman. Whether showing up at a new deli instead of New Dehli, getting high while investigating the perils of marijuana, or contributing hard-hitting items on Tootsie Rolls, Earl never quite hit the mark. Floyd (whose alter ego is Monster Chiller Horror Theatre host Count Floyd) could always be relied upon to deliver the story and to play Earl for the fool (especially on Thusdays).
